西田泉さん、ペルーの卓球ボランティア仲間の来訪
Ping Pong Volunteers: I met with Izumi Nishida-san an excellent table tennis player/coach currently living in Peru, with her 2 years old son, David (Yuta) at Kishida Dojo. She used to practice here when she was an elementary school girl. She served in Guatemala as a table tennis coach through Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) program (I did this in Peru 1983-85) then got married with Peruvian player (architect), Renzo-san. She is visiting Japan with her cute son and will be serving as a Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic volunteer during her stay in Japan. The same today, I shipped a carton of table tennis uniforms and rubbers donated by Chiyo Ono-san to Lima, Peru. Those table tennis materials will be used by Peruvian boys and girls through Impactando Vida program led by ex-TT champion, Monica Liyau. It’s a small and wonderful world as and if we connect our hands and hearts.
今日、西田泉さんと2歳になる息子さんが岸田道場を訪問しました。泉さんは小学生の頃はここで練習して、リトルキングスで全国大会でもチーム優勝しています。青年海外協力隊でグアテマラに赴任して、そこで出会ったペルー人の旦那さんと今ではリマ市に在住。私も2017年にペルーを再訪したときに一緒にナショナルチームを指導した同僚ですね。今回はペルーから日本に里帰り、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックのボランティアをするそうです。すごい！ 私も今日は、小野千代さんからいただいたユニフォームやラバーを箱詰めして、ペルーのImpactando Vida（人生のインパクト）という卓球普及活動している元ラテンアメリカ卓球チャンピオンのモニカ・リヤウさんのNGOに送りました。卓球好きの思いがペルーの子供たちに伝わるといいですね。
