パラリンピアンの加藤くんと私と卓球を始めた飯島くん（親子）との嬉しい再会と対戦 (Reunion with a Paralympian, Kato-kun, and my table tennis student, Iijima-kun and his father at Nissan Cup team tournament)

昨日、座間市の日産カップ卓球大会（2部）でチーム優勝しました。

予選の第一試合が、驚いたことに、私がパラ世界選手権などでコーチしていた加藤くんと私と卓球を始めた飯島くん（親子）のいるチームとの対戦。加藤くんに憧れていた飯島くんが親子で加藤くんと一緒のチームで出場しているという微笑ましくも感極まる出来事でした。その初戦がコーチだった私のチームとの対戦という冗談でもなかなかない奇遇で、結果は生徒チームの勝利！！　加藤くん、飯島くんとお父さん、角井くん（私に3-2で逆転勝ち）、感動をありがとう。　

そのあと予選二位通過だった私のチームは、なんと私がエース対決で全勝し、ダブルスも全勝で、２部で優勝できました。とにかく若者ばかりで、６０代の私たちとはボールのスピードがちがって、元気なラリーを楽しむことができました。もうすぐマスターズ、ガンバります！！

Yesterday, we participated in Nissan Cup team tournament in Zama-city. To my pleasant surprise, I encountered with a team of a Paralympian, Kato-kun, with whom I participated numerous international TT championship as the coach and Iijima-kun who started learning ping pong at my Enjoy TT class three years ago. Since then, Iijima-kun’s has been a big fan of Kato-kun as his hero. This time, Iijima-kun with his father joined his hero, Kato-kun’s team and played together. It was in fact beyond my imagination. The first game was (un)fortunately battled between their team and my team. My team lost to Kato-kun and Iijima-kun’s team. Waooo… It was so great to see how much they have grown not only as player but also as human. Our team still classified to the final tournament and surprisingly we won the championship!! Our team was by far older veteran team with double or triple age difference, and it is always fan to play ping pong together with young generation.
