インクルージョン出前授業 in 松山/Lecture on “Inclusion through sports” in Matsuyana
トライアスロンの選手でAmic英会話学校のオーナー社長である玉井里美さんとご一緒に、松山の小学生向けに「パラスポーツで共生社会を実現しよう」というテーマで、お話と実技を含めて2時限を使って講演を行いました。講演（出前授業）を行ったのは、内子町立内子小学校、愛媛大学教育学部附属小学校、東温市立南吉井小学校、松山市立立花小学校の4校で、4年生から6年生、総計400名ほどが参加してくれました。また一般の方々を対象に、愛媛県生活文化センターにて 「スポーツと国際理解から学ぶインクルージョン」をテーマに講演しました。愛媛の子どもたちはホントに屈託なく、ハツラツと自分の考えを発言し、活発に質問し、自由な参加型の授業となりました。わたしたちもたくさん元気をもらいました。サインを求める子どもたちが長い列をつくって並んだのには、こちらもビックリ。今日のささやかな出会いと学びが、これから、いろんなちがうバックグラウンドをもった人たちと交流するキッカケになるとありがたいですね。招待してくれた玉井さん、小学校の関係者のみなさん、タンデム自転車NGOの津賀さん、松山のみなさまに感謝申し上げます。
Together with Mrs. Satomi Tamai, the President of Amic International and Triathlete, I shared my thought and experience with around 400 students of four primary schools on “promoting para-sports to create inclusive society” in Matsuyama, Toon and Uchiko cities. Students were very interested, vocal and pro-active sharing their views and participating in para-sport activities. We were asked to give our autographs to a hundred of students. I hope that this small encounter will give them a bit of courage to interact with people with different abilities and background in future. I thank Mrs. Tamai and wonderful students and teachers for their invitation and hospitality. The place is very famous of onsen (hot spring) and beautiful nature.
Discovering Table Tennis in Peru / 南米ペルー卓球訪問
【Cities visited in Peru: Lima, Moquegua, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Canete, Chincha, Pisco】
Since my arrival of 1 August, 2025, I have been travelling to discover table tennis lovers led by teachers and coaches of Impactando Vidas program in various regions of Peru. Arequipa is a beautiful (la ciudad blanca) white colored city, with 5822m high El Misti mountain and historic world heritage site. At the Arequipa TT Open, I found many TT friends who remember my exhibition matches that I played 40 years ago, 1984-85, in various provinces. They all told me that it has made a big impact on their sporting life. Cool!!
Ayacucho is located at 2760m above sea level. It is called a city of iglesias (churches) and guitars. I was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic school children learning TT at the Center of Impactando Vidas. We also made visits to Canete, Chincha and Pisco cities located southern coast of Peru, where I did play some exhibition matches with Marcos, who are the national champion in 40’s.
I also handed over some uniforms and rubbers donated by my Japanese friends. Our heartfelt appreciation to the donors, particularly, Tsukumo (九十九) Club and Kokusai Takkyuu (国際卓球).
I’m honored and humbled to be given these opportunities to serve as a bridge between my Japanese friends’ goodwill and those young TT players in the various regions of Peru through this wonderful program “Impacting Vidas”.
1983‐2025 40年のたゆまぬ夢と友情
８年ぶりのペルー訪問。2017年にペルーナショナルチームのコーチとしてパンアメリカン大会とボリバル大会に参加して以来、久びさのトレーニング場です。現在の卓球連盟のMagali Montes会長は、４０年前に私がコーチした時の南米ジュニアチャンピオンチームの主力選手でした。８年前に指導した選手や今年の岡山ー広島合宿に参加した選手も練習していて、うれしい再会でした。これから９月上旬までペルー国内を巡回指導します。22歳で青年海外協力隊に参加して、初めての海外経験がこのペルー卓球連盟のコーチとしての活動でした。それから40年、こうしてまた当時の仲間たちと共に指導に携わることができるしあわせと巡り合わせに感謝です。
わたしが１９８３年にペルーに協力隊で赴任して以来、わたしの卓球ばかりでなく、人生の友として、共に歩んできたのが、ワルター・ナタンでした。ワルターはペルー卓球界の第一人者であり、長年にわたりペルー卓球チームのキャプテン・エースとしてみんなを思いやり、リードする存在でした。わたしよりも２才若いのですが、お互いをリスペクトし、励まし合い、夢に挑戦するパートナーでした。わたしの個人的な夢だった∪Ｓオープン大会への参加も、ワルターのおかげで、二人でペルーチームを組んで成し遂げることができました。憧れの江加良選手と試合できたのも、クラブチーム大会で優勝できたのも、ワルターとのタッグがあったからこそでした。ワルターは、その後も、ペルー選手らのバタフライ卓球道場への参加などペルー卓球の国際化への道を開き、多大な貢献をしています。
そんなワルターがALS（筋萎縮性側索硬化症：手足・のど・ 舌の筋肉や呼吸に必要な 筋肉がだんだんやせて力がなくなっていく病気）という難病に罹っていると、本人からきかされたのは、2013年にニューヨークで再会したときでした。「5年と命が続かない可能性がある」と話すワルターに、わたしは声にする言葉をみつけることができませんでした。以来、治療法のないALSとの闘いを続けながら、懸命に生きているワルターに会うことが、ペルー訪問のいちばんの目的になっています。
ペルー卓球界でもっとも尊敬され、敬愛されている存在ともいえるワルターへのペルー卓球協会からの感謝を込めた表彰が行われることになりました。そのワルターとともに、これまでのペルーの卓球界とそこに集う仲間たちとの友情や交流活動にたいして、わたしもペルー卓球連盟より感謝の盾を授与されることとなりました。
その感謝の盾を手渡すペルー卓球連盟の会長は、1983年から85年にわたって、わたしがコーチとして指導していたマガリ・モンテスさんです。Impactando Vidasという世界でもっともスケールが大きくイノべーティブな卓球普及プログラムを開発・運営しているモニカ・リヤウさんからも感謝の盾を授与されました。モニカさんもわたしのコーチ時代の南米ジュニアチャンピオンであり、マガリさんと組んだダブルスやチーム戦でも常勝していたペルー卓球界のレジェンドです。
こうして40年来の仲間が、成長し、再び、感謝の思いをこめて、一堂に会する。そしてその歴史と未来を若い選手たちにつないでいく。そのような瞬間と空間にわたしの人生がめぐりあえたことに感謝します。
Together with Walter Nathan, my most respected brother of table tennis and life, we received a plaque of appreciation from the President of Peruvian Table Tennis Federation, Magali Montes, and the founder of Impactando Vidas Monica Liyau, for our long time efforts in developing this sport in Peru. It was a monent of great honor and pleasure for Walter san and myself with a sincere wish that our sporting spirits in life will be of use and serve good examples for those new and young generations of table tennis lovers in Peru. シニアと呼ばれる誕生日を迎えて
Birthday is the day to thank my mom for giving me a life, my family for making my life, and you all for shaping my life.
I feel good, fortunate and happy about how I have walked through the winding road of life with the people I love and respect. Though a few times, I hated or angered with some deeds of people around. It has the deep effects of making me broad- and open-minded. Thanks for that. I’ve learned the fact that a life is like food. If one like it, no matter how many others dislike it, it does not matter. We better just simply cook and flavor our life in the way we like as much as we can. And it is important still to have good friends like you to tell me if it has negative effects on health or not so that I can adjust. I have no regret and love my way of life with you and Japanese food, of course, because of its nature, genuineness and diversity. As I finish my PhD course and my veteran table tennis career has reached where I hoped, this year is going to be another turning point of my life to refocus on international collaboration and education of the youth.
I am going to Peru in August for 5 weeks and will revisit Bhutan as I am appointed as a vice-president of Japan- Bhutan Friendship Association. I’d like to revisit the places that shaped my life to thank you and give back whatever I have received in life to the youth.

New Zekken 2025 as a gift/新しいゼッケン(2025)のプレゼント
New Zekken 2025 (name cloth put on my back), a gift for my championship from my friend, calligrapher, Yoshimatsu-san!! 書道家の友だち、吉松さんの直筆による2025年の新しいゼッケンを頂きました。
My friend, Japanese calligrapher, Yoshimatsu-san, sent me two new official zekkens for playing in the games under the auspices of Japan Table Tennis Association (JTTA) throughout the year of 2025 (from April 2025 to March 2026 as my Tokyo Open championship present. 田中 (Tanaka) is my family name: 東京(Tokyo) & 九十九(Tsukumo) is the club team name in Tokyo and 6 means that I am at 6 dan (段 black belt) level of JTTA which signifies my having had a championship of all Japan tournament in my career. What’s a wonderful and unforgettable present that I will be carrying on my back in all the games I play during the year 2025 with pride and courage. A big thank to my friend, Yoshimatsu-san and all who always support me in this competitive world.
東京オープン優勝のお祝いとして、岡山県の吉松さん直筆のゼッケンを2枚も頂きました。この一年を友の心のこもったゼッケンを背にプレーできるというのは、とても心強く、ありがたいことです。背中を押されるというのは、まさにこういうことを言うのでしょうね。
今回の東京オープン大会の初優勝は、卓球人生のなかでも、達成感のある、大切な道標となりました。表彰式後の飲み会で、華原さんや上海から来られた呉さんに、来年も共に戦いましょうと、またローシックスティで競い合う約束をさせられました。海を越えたライバルたちや、応援してくださる仲間や友人がいることに感謝、感激です。
どうもありがとうございます。私もみなさまを応援しております。これからもよろしくお願いいたします！！
Championship at the Tokyo Open 2025 for the first time!!/東京選手権大会(ローシックスティ)初優勝
東京選手権大会ローシックスティの部で初優勝を遂げることができました。
After years of struggle, I finally achieved to get the championship at the Tokyo Open 2025 (60’s). At the final, I won the game against Mr Kahara for the first time. He is one of my best friends and apparently the best player among all the participants here. Mr. Gu from Shanghai, China, who defeated me at the final two years ago, was at the 3rd place this time. Wonderful to meet with friends and rivals beyond borders while thanking family and gods for keeping me healthy and alive.
ペルー選手団の合宿のあとで体調を崩し、そこから調整を重ねる日々を続け、やっとの思いで本大会を迎えました。かなり強敵ぞろいの大会で、無心で一つ一つの試合に臨みました。昨年チャンピオンの佐藤くんとの準々決勝が山場で、1ゲーム目を10－6から逆転負けしたところで勝運尽きたと思われたのですが。そこからは私の方がなぜかツキに恵まれました。諦めなかったことが勝因でしょう。決勝の相手はこれまで一度も勝ったことのない（全日本マスターズの決勝でも敗れています）華原くん。ずっと押されている余裕のない試合展開で、運良く2ゲームを最初にとれて、3ゲーム目を接戦で落としたけれど、4ゲーム目は走って打ち続けて初勝利を手中にすることができました。前々回に決勝で敗れた呉四海さんは華原さんに準決勝で敗れて3位。表彰台に3人で並び、その真ん中にいられる自分を幸せに感じました。朝からずっと応援してくれた九十九チームの仲間やベンチの高田くん、私のホームの岸田クラブ、声援を送っていただいたみなさまに心より感謝いたします。これからもガンバります。
Peruvian Junior Team in Hiroshima, City of Peace (Ciudad para la Paz)/ペルージュニア卓球チームの広島訪問
「戦争は人の心の中で生まれるものであるから、人の心の中に平和のとりでを築かなければならない」（ユネスコ憲章前文より）
A visit to the city of peace, Hiroshima, was the concluding event of the training camp in Japan.
We all seeking for peace in mind as well as in the world, as UNESCO Constitution put it “since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men (and women) that the defences of peace must be constructed”. Without saying, the visits to Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, and Peace Memorial Museum were eye-opening and heartbreaking experience for generations of humanity. Then, we were welcomed by the table tennis team of Hiroshima Shogyou high-school where young players of two teams had memorable warm hearted exchanges and interactions beyond borders. So nice. “If there is a will, there is a path to construct defences of peace in the minds of boys and girls.”

Peruvian Junior Team Training Camp in Japan/ペルー卓球ジュニア選手団と岡山県の閑谷学校で合宿してます！！
Campamento del Equipo de Tenis de Mesa Peruana (Menores) en Japon!!
Following 40years of my close relation with Peruvian table tennis family, now I am happily returning to be the hosting coach of the junior table tennis team from Peru led by Monica Liyau-san through her Impactando Vida program, The training camp is being held at the Youth training center of Shizutani in Okayama. Shizutani school has traditional architecture and beauty of Japan with 355 years of history, The Peruvian players are learning not only table tennis techniques but also Japanese philosophy, courtesy, cooking and traditional handicraft. Now they are accustomed to use chopsticks to eat Japanese rice and miso soup.
Yesterday, we welcomed the table tennis club teams from Kobe Noda high school, Kanzei high school, and Syuujitsu junior high-school. We played more than 10 matches from 9am till 4 pm. Today, we visited Shujitsu junior high-school in the city of Okayama and had a very friendly and tough practice from 9am till 5pm.
We truly appreciate and thank teachers and players of those schools and especially Mr Kouriyama and Mr Tachibana for coordinating the friendly match and exchange with table tennis friends around Okayama. The camp started on 14 January and it is still to be continued till 2 February. I wish all of you to have a great start of the new year 2025!!
ペルー卓球ジュニア選手団の岡山県閑谷学校での合宿にご協力いただき、また楽しくそして真剣に交流試合や練習をしていただいた、瀬戸内卓球少年団、就実中・高等学校卓球部、関西高校卓球部、神戸野田高校卓球部のみなさま、本当にありがとうございます。とくにコーディネートしていただいた郡山さんや立花さんにはお世話になっており、持つべきものは友と、ひたすら感謝、Graciasです。
第１５回 アジアベテラン卓球大会、来年は横浜開催（１０月７-１１日、２０２５）
Participated in 15th Asian (Pacific) Veteran Table Tennis Championship in Korea. Our Japanese team “Godzilla” obtained Bronze Medal in the Team event. I reached till the quarterfinal in singles. A step forward since the last one in Bangkok. It is always full of learning with players of China, Korea, HK, Taiwan, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, and etc. Their playing styles have so much of creativity, innovation and variation.
Next year this Asian Veteran TT Championship will be held at Yokohama, Japan, in 7-11 October 2025. So, I am looking forward to stepping up to reach at the top in Yokohama 2025. Thank you all the players, umpires, and organizers for your sporting spirit, support and friendship.
韓国の城南市で開催されたアジアベテラン卓球大会に参加してきました。
西田くんと立花くんと一緒のGodzilla teamで三位入賞。シングルスはベスト８でした。中国トップの選手はサーブ力が半端なくあって、反応速度が早い。とってもいい勉強になりました。韓国の選手らとも友人になり韓国料理を美味しくいただきました。来年は１０月７-１１日に横浜で開催されます。ホームゲームでは、チャンピオンシップを我が手中におさめたいものです。みなさん、ぜひ参加してくださいね。
【SHOTIMEに湧く世界・一喜一憂しない大谷翔平選手】
大谷翔平選手が、５１HR ５１盗塁、を成し遂げた。おめでとうございます！！
昨夜から今朝にかけて、日本国中そして米国中、そして世界のあちこちで、SHOHEI OTANI の名前が、その異形ともいえる偉業とともに、憧れと畏敬をこめてメディアや人々の心臓から津波のようにあふれ出ている。
パレスチナやレバノンで起こっているイスラエルによる血生臭い虐殺・戦闘行為や長期にわたるロシアによるウクライナ侵攻、温暖化にともなう異常気象のニュース、アメリカ大統領選挙や自民党の総裁選など、世界でも日本でも人間社会の将来にかかわる重い現実や、私たちの暮らしや将来の生活環境に影響を及ぼすニュースを目にする毎日の空気や気分が、今朝はすっかりSHOTIMEに乗っ取られている。
オリンピックとパラリンピックで自国の選手がメダルを獲得するたびに、各国ごとに一喜一憂していた世界の人々が、５１HR５１盗塁・６安打１０打点を達成したSHOHEI OTANIには諸手を上げてその人間としての快挙を、同じ人間として祝福している。Greatest of All Time（GOAT）であることの証。スポーツには時として人間社会を、人々の心の世界をかえる力がある。
さて、このような偉業を達成した大谷翔平選手は以下のように試合後のインタビューに答えている。（スポーツニッポン新聞社より引用）
大谷は試合後、MLBネットワークに出演。球宴前に同番組に出演した際にWBC優勝がキャリアでの素晴らしい日だったと答えたことを振られると「同じくらいうれしいです。自分が良かったというのもありますし、チームがポストシーズンを決められたというのは僕の夢でもあったので、そこは凄いうれしいかなと思います」と答えた。また、50盗塁を決めた際に本塁打が残り2本だったことの心境を問われると「狙っていないですね。いい打席を送りたいと思っていたので、それがホームランを打てる一番の近道ではないのかなと思っていました」と心境を吐露した。また、ベッツやフリーマンが春季キャンプの時期に大谷をポストシーズンに連れて行きたいと話していたことを伝えられると「ムーキーも怪我もあって1回離脱したりとかいろいろありましたし、そこで打順も入れ替わっていたりする。1試合、1試合今もそうですけど、お互いの打席が作用し合うようにどれが一番いい打席なのかなとコミュニケーションを取りながら、チームのベストを探している状態です」と答えた。また、メジャー通算219勝を誇る元レッドソックスのペドロ・マルティネス氏から「コモ エスタ？（元気ですか？」とスペイン語で挨拶されると、大谷は「ムイ ビエン（元気です）」とスペイン語で即答。さらにポストシーズンに向けて課している目標を問われると「節目で50―50はありましたけど、1試合1試合ここからチームとして大事なので、首位で地区優勝できるというのが一番のポイント。それが僕にとって一番大きいことではあるので、そこを目指してやりたいと思います」と話した。
