Defending championship at the Tokyo Open 2026/東京卓球選手権大会で二連覇達成！！
東京卓球選手権大会ローシックスティの部で二連覇を成し遂げることができました。
It was beyond my expectation that I could defend the last year’s title after three consecutive hard-fought matches. My respected friends, Mr. Wu from Shanghai and Mr. Kahara, are outstanding veteran players whom I feel, I can hardly win. This time, it was sheer resilience and determination that brought me the rare chance to obtain the final winning. It is always a pleasure to meet with friends of far distance, though facing them on the court is intense. I am grateful to have them as both friends and rivals.
I’d like to thank my teammates for their tireless support and encouragement. Wishing you all a wonderful day and a great weekend!
ブータン王国から2月２７日に帰国。日ブ友好協会の総会、訪問報告、そしてトプゲ首相来日歓迎会とめまぐるしい行事の中、大会に向けた練習を続けてまいりました。中国からの参加を含め強敵揃いの本大会で、とにかく眼前の試合に集中することだけを考えました。マスターズ決勝で敗れたばかりの山田選手との準々決勝が山場。前回よりも簡単に2ゲームを取られ万事休す。速い攻めに対してブロックとカウンターに徹して、そこから１ゲームを返し、４・５ゲーム目は１２-１０で本当にギリギリ、土壇場の逆転でした。準決勝の呉さんはペンの表と粒高の変則プレーで、裏面サーブと揺れる粒高ボールに翻弄される。お互いにサーブで取り合うパターンで２-２。５ゲーム目は攻めに徹して、エッジやネットの運もあって、薄氷の勝利。決勝は昨年と同じ華原さん。勝負の３ゲーム目を１０-７から逆転され１１-１３で取られこのまま負けてしまうかと思われた。6-8からの挽回で１１-8として２-２。華原さんのロビングに粘り負けることがあり、早めに思いきった攻撃をすることを心がける。今回の勝利は体力と気力とブロック力のたまものでした。
表彰台は昨年と全く同じ顔ぶれ。華原さんと呉さんとは、佳きライバル、尊敬する友人として共に精進していきたいです。非常感謝！！
朝からずっと応援してくれた河島先輩や九十九チームの仲間たち、ベンチの高田くん、私のホームの岸田クラブ、声援を送っていただいたみなさまに心より感謝いたします。
U16 Inclusive Training Camp and Competitions in Thimphu!!/16才以下インクルーシブ・トレーニングキャンプを実施
It is always wonderful to engage with youth, the future of our family and society. This time, we have organized the first inclusive table tennis camp with young girls and boys of Thimphu with or without disabilities. At the closing of inclusive competitions, we distributed uniforms to all the participants, and rubbers and some rackets to the winners. Those gifts are donated by friends of Japan, as one of the grassroots initiatives of sports community to commemorate 40th Anniversary of Bhutan-Japan diplomatic and friendly relationships.

今回、ティンプーの障がいのある子どもたちを含む１６歳以下の男女生徒を対象に、インクルーシブ卓球キャンプを開催いたしました。インクルーシブ卓球キャンプの最終日には、全員参加の競技大会を開きました。参加賞として参加者全員に日本の皆様からいただいたユニフォームを配り、勝者にはラバーや一部のラケットを贈呈しました。これらの卓球用具は「卓球王国」の呼びかけに応えていただいた方や九十九クラブの仲間、国際卓球さん等のご寄付によるものです。子どもたちにとっても、わたしたちにとっても、ブータンと日本の外交友好関係40周年の素晴らしい思い出と記念になったと思います。
みなさまのご協力に感謝いたします。ありがとうございました。

Participation of para-table tennis players, veteran players and good old and young friends of Bhutan and Japan made the championship a memorable and joyful occasion for cerebrating 40th Anniversary of Bhutan-Japan Diplomacy and Friendship.

4日間にわたったティンプー・オープンが閉幕しました。パラ卓球選手やベテラン選手が集まった明るく健やか、楽しい大会になったと思います。とくに多忙なスケジュールの中、日本から参加いただいたパラリンピアンの八木克勝選手のプレーはみんなの注目を集めていました。すぐにブータンの食事や習慣に馴染んだ人懐こい人柄で人気者になりましたね。わたしも22年前にブータンに国連で赴任して以来、支援をつづけ育ててきた選手たちと再び白球を打ち合うことができました。日本のみなさまから頂いた卓球用具もブータンの卓球関係者やメディアが見守る中でBTTF への寄贈を果たすことができ、40周年に花を添えることができました。ブータンおよび日本のみなさまに感謝いたします。来年からは恒例イベントにして、毎年参加したいと思います。

Opening of the Thimphu Open shows the true spirit of sports as a bridge beyond borders. ティンプーオープン大会が始まりました。開会式にイーザンデタパ教育大臣が来賓として参加して下さいました。女性の現大臣と元労働大臣野党党首で卓球ファンのワンディドルジさんとのフレンドリーマッチが行なわれ、政治信条を超えて楽しく交流できる本当のスポーツの魅力が体現されて感動的でした。

Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Thimphu Table Tennis Open was conducted on 7th February, at 10 am (venue: Table Tennis Hall near Pema Secretariat Office, Chubachu). The occasion was graced by the Honorable Education Minister of Bhutan、H.E. Yeezang de Thapa. The Thimphu Open is being organized by BTTF and from Japan, Dr. Toshihiro Tanaka (vice president of Japan – Bhutan Friendship Association) and to the World No.2 para-table tennis (class 7) player , Mr Katsuyoshi Yagi from Aichi participated in the Thimphu Open. The Thimphu Open is held to commemorate 40th Anniversary of Bhutan – Japan Diplomatic Relation. A big congratulations and appreciation to all the participants and the organizer of the Thimphu Open Table Tennis Championship.
Let us promote together Inclusive Sports “Sports for All, Sports for Life”.

Practicing Ping Pong, Eating, Drinking, and Singing together!!
I visited Bangkok to meet with my friend, Van-san’s family and Deaf Table Tennis friends. I am currently visiting Bangkok to meet with my friend, Van-san’s family and Deaf Table Tennis friends. At a table tennis club in Bangkok, I practiced almost 4 hours with very enthusiastic good young and senior Thai players. Regardless of who wins or loses, we all enjoyed and became close friends. This table tennis room is a multi-purpose hall for dinner, bar and karaoke. Probably, it is a part of an Amazing Thailand. Thanks!! ขอบคุณมากครับ Khob khun mak kráp my friends!!
インクルージョン出前授業 in 松山/Lecture on “Inclusion through sports” in Matsuyana
４つの小学校で「インクルージョン出前授業」実施終了！ | 松山市・東温市の英会話スクール アミック・イングリッシュセンター
トライアスロンの選手でAmic英会話学校のオーナー社長である玉井里美さんとご一緒に、松山の小学生向けに「パラスポーツで共生社会を実現しよう」というテーマで、お話と実技を含めて2時限を使って講演を行いました。講演（出前授業）を行ったのは、内子町立内子小学校、愛媛大学教育学部附属小学校、東温市立南吉井小学校、松山市立立花小学校の4校で、4年生から6年生、総計400名ほどが参加してくれました。また一般の方々を対象に、愛媛県生活文化センターにて 「スポーツと国際理解から学ぶインクルージョン」をテーマに講演しました。愛媛の子どもたちはホントに屈託なく、ハツラツと自分の考えを発言し、活発に質問し、自由な参加型の授業となりました。わたしたちもたくさん元気をもらいました。サインを求める子どもたちが長い列をつくって並んだのには、こちらもビックリ。今日のささやかな出会いと学びが、これから、いろんなちがうバックグラウンドをもった人たちと交流するキッカケになるとありがたいですね。招待してくれた玉井さん、小学校の関係者のみなさん、タンデム自転車NGOの津賀さん、松山のみなさまに感謝申し上げます。
Together with Mrs. Satomi Tamai, the President of Amic International and Triathlete, I shared my thought and experience with around 400 students of four primary schools on “promoting para-sports to create inclusive society” in Matsuyama, Toon and Uchiko cities. Students were very interested, vocal and pro-active sharing their views and participating in para-sport activities. We were asked to give our autographs to a hundred of students. I hope that this small encounter will give them a bit of courage to interact with people with different abilities and background in future. I thank Mrs. Tamai and wonderful students and teachers for their invitation and hospitality. The place is very famous of onsen (hot spring) and beautiful nature.
Silver medal at All Japan Table Tennis Championships of Masters/全日本卓球選手権大会マスターズの部５年連続決勝進出！！
First of all, congratulations to all participants and organizers for successful and memorable completion of 2025 All Japan masters which was held in support of early recovery from the Noto peninsula earthquake. The city of Kanazawa is a well-known historic and touristic place near Japan’s long-time capital, Kyoto. I feel humbled and honored to be part of the All-Japan Championships and certainly feel proud of reaching the final of this prestigious national game for 5th consecutive years. This year, I was left with silver medal as the last time. Nonetheless, I would try to think, it is not an issue who loses or wins because it does not affect the total amount of happiness but, merely and mostly, the distribution of happiness among those players and their supporters. There exit, however, truly great players (people) who can bring larger happiness and motivations to those fans and even those unrelated without borders through their exciting performances and charming personalities. In other words, we admire those who increase the size of pies or amount of happiness available for anyone to taste them. In nutshell, I come to wish that I could use my remaining sporting life on increasing happiness of others especially the youth (in addition to my mental and physical strength). With my best wishes to you all.
今年は６５才になり、友だちはハイシックスティに格上げしました。わたしはこれまでローシックスティに４回出場させていただき、３連覇と準優勝という自分でも予期していなかった成績をあげることができました。思えば５６で日本に帰国し、マスターズ卓球に参加するようになりました。５７-５９では知的障がい者卓球チームのコーチ・監督として海外遠征など引率し、自分の大会よりも、東京パラリンピックを目指す選手たちの大会を優先していました。５８は予選落ち、５９で全日本に５０代で初参加、６０はコロナで大会が消滅。６１で念願の初優勝でした。それから2連覇を目指し特訓を続けました。そして３連覇という栄誉に恵まれ、ローシックスティはわたしに最高の卓球人生の舞台を提供してくれました。昨年初めてローシックスティに参戦した尊敬する友人である華原張さんに決勝でフルゲームで敗れて準優勝。４連覇を阻まれました。今年は、やはりわたしはローシックスティを舞台にマスターズ卓球人生をやり遂げたい、また華原さんと戦いたいという思いでローシックスティに５回目の挑戦を決めました。「初心に帰れ」を合言葉として、一戦一戦を大切に、試合させていただきました。とくに準々決勝の山本茂選手とは、７年前の東京予選で０-３で敗れ、６年前の東京予選で薄氷の勝利、今年のアジアベテランで０-３の敗北と、わたしにとってはギリギリの勝負に持っていけるかどうかというような覚悟で臨みました。結果は３-２で紙一重の勝負。３ゲーム目の7-10からの逆転が勝利の別れ目でした。40代で、野球選手から卓球選手への変身という未曾有の道に挑み、わたしたちの想像を遥かに超える努力とアイデアで全日本で活躍できるレベルに到達した山本選手には敬意しかありません。ランク決定で戦った原選手、準決勝の平井選手もつねに上位にランクされる卓球人で、対戦して学ぶことが多いです。これからもよろしくお願いします。決勝は右ペン表ソフトの有名な山田選手。3年前の全日本で対戦し、やっとのことで逆転勝ちして以来の対戦。優勝候補の華原選手を破って、まさに波に乗った感じでした。優勝おめでとうございます。
全日本マスターズ、ローシックスティの大会の舞台は、いつも緊張と感動と感謝でいっぱいですね。

Discovering Table Tennis in Peru / 南米ペルー卓球訪問
【Cities visited in Peru: Lima, Moquegua, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Canete, Chincha, Pisco】
Since my arrival of 1 August, 2025, I have been travelling to discover table tennis lovers led by teachers and coaches of Impactando Vidas program in various regions of Peru. Arequipa is a beautiful (la ciudad blanca) white colored city, with 5822m high El Misti mountain and historic world heritage site. At the Arequipa TT Open, I found many TT friends who remember my exhibition matches that I played 40 years ago, 1984-85, in various provinces. They all told me that it has made a big impact on their sporting life. Cool!!
Ayacucho is located at 2760m above sea level. It is called a city of iglesias (churches) and guitars. I was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic school children learning TT at the Center of Impactando Vidas. We also made visits to Canete, Chincha and Pisco cities located southern coast of Peru, where I did play some exhibition matches with Marcos, who are the national champion in 40’s.
I also handed over some uniforms and rubbers donated by my Japanese friends. Our heartfelt appreciation to the donors, particularly, Tsukumo (九十九) Club and Kokusai Takkyuu (国際卓球).
I’m honored and humbled to be given these opportunities to serve as a bridge between my Japanese friends’ goodwill and those young TT players in the various regions of Peru through this wonderful program “Impacting Vidas”.
全日本クラブ卓球選手権大会（65以上の部）で初優勝を成し遂げることができました！！
We are the Champion at the All Japan Club Team Championship for the first time!!
All Japan Club team’s Championship has been a long-standing aspiration of our 九十九（Tsukumo）Club men’s team since its establishment four decades ago. Our dream has come true this time, at the most senior team event of 65 years old and the above (as we get older and older, and myself became 65 in this June). It has been a long journey of training and psychological up-down and human dramas. Especially at the final with Akiyama (秋山卓球) from Fukuoka. We (I) lost the doubles game for the time in this championship, and the second resulting in 0-2 behind. The third was the most hard-hit spectacular game which my partner (河島さん) won by 3-2. I won my game with Kurihara (栗原さん) by 3-1. Now tied at 2-2. The last deciding game, with our senior most team mate Satoken （佐藤さん）, was about to be lost going with 0-2. But, from there he recovered miraculously finishing 3-2, and brought the long-dreamed Championship to our team. It was the drama. We, above 65 years old guys and supporters, all cried with overjoy, “a rare precious shining moment of our life”.
“Life is beautiful, team-mates are wonderful, and we all are thankful to all the supporters”.

全日本クラブ卓球選手権大会（65以上の部）で初優勝を成し遂げることができました！！
感動、そして感謝しかないです。本大会はわたしがついに（うれしいわけでないですが）65才の誕生日をむかえ、九十九男子チーム悲願の初優勝を成し遂げようとチーム全員が祈願して臨んだ大会でした。去年、ベスト８で敗れている相手の日産追浜が地元栃木のTMSに敗れて準々決勝はTMS、準決勝は奈良の勝先生のいる清友クラブに３２で勝った千葉の柏クラブ、そして決勝は昨年優勝の福岡の秋山卓球との戦い。
決勝がやはり超難関で、わたしと河島先輩のダブルスが吉田・栗原ペアのテクニックに完敗。本大会の初敗北を喫する。二番手の平澤さんも上松さんに打ち込まれ０-２の絶体絶命のピンチ。３番手の河島vs吉田が九十九の夢をつなぐ鍵となる戦い。超絶ラリーの応酬で、河島先輩のスマッシュ力が光り３-２でもぎ取る。わたしは３年前のマスターズで対戦経験のあるいぶし銀の栗原選手が相手。１ゲームを奪取されるも、わたしのサーブと粘り勝ちで２-２のタイに戻す。ラストはお決まりの佐藤（健）先輩の登場。相手の白坂選手はアンチと表の変則卓球。技術的というより精神的に混乱したサトケン先輩が０-２とされ万事休すかと思われた。３ゲーム目からやっと正気にかえり、そこから３-２へと大逆転を起こしというドラマチックな展開に会場中が湧き、九十九チーム全員が喜びにむせび泣きとなる。
卓球王国やユーチューバーなどの写真取材を受け、笑顔のすてきなバタフライの大沢社長そして星野一朗日本卓球協会副会長からの祝福をいただき、感動と感謝にまみれる至福のときを表彰台で味あわせていただきました。本当にありがとうございます。
悲願のクラブチームの優勝、ホントにすばらしい九十九クラブにおける卓球人生のごほうびをいただきました。園田御大、高田マネージャー、布施川監督、そして九十九の大応援団のみなさまに感謝いたします。
さいごに、決勝で正々堂々とガチで勝負していただいた秋山卓球の選手のみなさまの気概とスポーツマンシップに心より感謝を伝えたいです。今回勝てたのは運としかいいようがないです。秋山卓球、そして今回対戦したどのチームも、ホントに魅力にあふれるカッコいい男たちのチームでした。また来年。ありがとうございました。

New Zekken 2025 as a gift/新しいゼッケン(2025)のプレゼント
New Zekken 2025 (name cloth put on my back), a gift for my championship from my friend, calligrapher, Yoshimatsu-san!! 書道家の友だち、吉松さんの直筆による2025年の新しいゼッケンを頂きました。
My friend, Japanese calligrapher, Yoshimatsu-san, sent me two new official zekkens for playing in the games under the auspices of Japan Table Tennis Association (JTTA) throughout the year of 2025 (from April 2025 to March 2026 as my Tokyo Open championship present. 田中 (Tanaka) is my family name: 東京(Tokyo) & 九十九(Tsukumo) is the club team name in Tokyo and 6 means that I am at 6 dan (段 black belt) level of JTTA which signifies my having had a championship of all Japan tournament in my career. What’s a wonderful and unforgettable present that I will be carrying on my back in all the games I play during the year 2025 with pride and courage. A big thank to my friend, Yoshimatsu-san and all who always support me in this competitive world.
東京オープン優勝のお祝いとして、岡山県の吉松さん直筆のゼッケンを2枚も頂きました。この一年を友の心のこもったゼッケンを背にプレーできるというのは、とても心強く、ありがたいことです。背中を押されるというのは、まさにこういうことを言うのでしょうね。
今回の東京オープン大会の初優勝は、卓球人生のなかでも、達成感のある、大切な道標となりました。表彰式後の飲み会で、華原さんや上海から来られた呉さんに、来年も共に戦いましょうと、またローシックスティで競い合う約束をさせられました。海を越えたライバルたちや、応援してくださる仲間や友人がいることに感謝、感激です。
