Wonderful ITTF World Masters Championships — bronze medal!
For the first time, I participated in the ITTF World Masters Championships in Gangneung, Korea (June 5-12). Thousands of participants aged from their 40s to their 90s, men and women from all corners of the world joined this event. I competed in the 65–69 category. In the qualification round there were 62 groups (four players each); I played against competitors from Switzerland, India, and Singapore. In the main draw I advanced through the 2nd round (Germany), 3rd round (Sweden), 4th round (China), 5th round (India), and 6th round (England), and was fortunate to reach the semifinals. At the semifinal, with my pleasure and honor, got quality lessons from Mr. Ding Yi, who is a super-competitive and respected player from Austria. Becoming friendly with so many people beyond borders and having such a rich and exciting international sporting experience was certainly one of the greatest achievements of life.
A heartfelt thanks to the Korean volunteers and organizers of this great event. They all were so warm-hearted, supportive and capable. We really enjoyed and felt well attended throughout the championships, Arigatougozaimasu!! 정말 감사드립니다.
